Faith Works

I’m sitting here today as living proof that faith works.

Not just any faith but faith in God the Creator and Maker of Heaven and Earth.

I guess you could say that I’ve been through some stuff.

Don’t get me wrong – it hasn’t been easy and I have relied on friends, family and even therapy but the most important pillar in my life is faith in the One who as the world – my world – in His hands.

Faith works: Faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through the good, the bad, and the ugly, I’ve relied on Jesus and it has worked!

Some would argue that I should have taken prescription anti-depressants. Others would say that I need more nights with Jim Beam or Jack Daniels. Still, some think I need a random man in my bed and all will be right with the world.

Faith Will See You Through

The truth is, none of those things would have strengthened me in my fight. In fact, each of those solutions would have broken me down even further. Mind, body, soul, and spirit would be nothing but a shell. I’m telling you – faith works!

I have fought the good fight. This good fight and I have won.

I have won without drugs, alcohol, or sexual impurity.

This battle, I have won, with the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. I have won this battle by faith and faith alone.

Was it easy? NO WAY!

Every day is a constant battle in my mind and body. A battle against societal norms, family stress, and bodily pain. But I remind myself that faith works

Society says: Sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

God’s Word says: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.

In the following weeks, you and I will discover how relevant the word of God is for today and why it is that faith works.

While it may be an ancient text, it certainly isn’t outdated. God knew that you and I would be reading it today. He knew that we would need a guide to help us navigate this treacherous world. It is not always easy but it is worth it.
